Santo Tomas De Castilla, Guatemala

Here we are in Guatemala! We didn't have anything planned today because there wasn't much the cruise ship offered to do here so it was kind of a free day.

We woke up that morning and this is what we saw. Tyler was out on the balcony in his underwear taking pictures. I told him that people were probably laughing and pointing but he was out taking pictures anyway. We were up on the 10Th floor so if they even could see it was probably blurry. It was really pretty how green and how much tropical forest there was. I was shocked.
Some of the guys posing for the camera. At every port they always take your picture right as you get off the ship. Left to right is Bill, Rob, Kevin, Colton, Tyler and Jerry.

Once we got to the end of the pier and onto land we all hopped into a cab and took a tour of the city. We stopped at a local church and as soon as we got out of a van we were greeted by this cute little boy (he's the one in the orange shirt waving). He didn't speak English but he wanted to show us the church that was his way of earning some money. We didn't have any change so I had gum and lifesavers and they were a hit with all of the kids.Inside of the church

Tyler and I at lunch at the second nicest restaurant in the town. It was nice to stop and have some lunch and enjoy some Pepsi, my favorite. Jerry, Rob and Colton were the seafood lovers this trip and ate it almost everywhere we went.

After a long day of site seeing in the town and shopping at the market we headed back to the ship.

Jewelry shopping was the highlight of this stop for me , they had a lot of Jade jewelry that was really nice and inexpensive. We also got a really cool mask. It was kind of a game with the shopping because they would bargain with us on the price. We never paid what they asked and it was fun to see how far down we could get them to go.

As the ship was setting sail we went to the top and we watched as most of the town (so it seemed) came and danced and said there goodbye's. The taxi's were honking there horns and flashing their lights to say thank you for stopping in there city. It was amazing how much they depend on tourists to make ends meet and to show how much they appreciate there tourists stopping by.

The sunsets were amazing and were always a perfect way to end the day. We would watch the sunsets from the front of the ship while we traveled the ocean. They were beautiful!

Guatemala is a really neat place! I went there a long time ago but remember it having lots of beautiful old buildings.
